DESCRIPTION and USE

The Periotomes are made of NiTi and so are super flexible to adapt to the angle of any root form, have fine, thin tapering blades that compress the alveolar bone, cut the periodontal ligament, and gently ease the tooth from its socket. They are to be used as periodontal ligament knives.

• • Designed to make extractions as trauma-free as possible, preserving alveolar bone.

• • They are not to be used as elevators.

• • One may decoronate, bisect, or trisect the tooth as needed.

• • Use the correct Periotome to apply pressure along the long axis.

• • NOT designed to be used with a surgical mallet.

• • After loosening, remove root/tooth with fine beaked forceps.

• • The different angled Periotomes allow any teeth to be removed this way

• • Use of a sharpening stone before autoclaving is advised to maintain sharpness.
